The Karlsruhe Economic Development Corporation is providing the sponsorship prize of 5,000 euros. Applications will be considered until May 31, 2021. On July 06, 2021, the finalists will get the chance to virtually pitch their concept in front of the expert jury and a broad public. The announcement of the winner and the award ceremony of the Future Mobility Award will take place the following day at the Regional Meeting Mobilitätswende on 07 July 2021 in Baden-Baden.

"We support the Future Mobility Award to encourage up-and-coming start-ups to contribute to the growth of sustainable mobility with their ideas," says Michael Kaiser, Director of the City of Karlsruhe Economic Development Agency.

The aim is to encourage innovative start-ups to present their ideas to a wider audience and also to solicit support from investors. The search is on for innovative mobility solutions in the fields of emission-free mobility, automated driving, digitalization or new business models. The city of Karlsruhe itself supports start-ups in a variety of ways.

The Automotive Engineering Network has been supporting start-ups for a long time as part of the Interreg project CE-Connector with valuable contacts to investors and is looking forward to numerous innovative submissions.

The journal Nahverkehrs-praxis would like to support aspiring young companies to get noticed in the mobility industry in order to be able to expand their activities. The award is being presented for the second time. Messe Karlsruhe and the International Association of Public Transport UITP invite the finalists and the winner of the Future Mobility Award 2021 to present their creative solutions at IT-TRANS 2022 - International Conference and Exhibition for Intelligent Solutions in Public Transport - and in this way network with decision-makers from transport companies in more than 60 countries. ITTRANS will take place from March 8 to 10, 2022 at the Karlsruhe Exhibition Center.

The submitted projects will be evaluated by a jury of experts with business and scientific backgrounds. The jury is made up of Dr. Till Ackermann (Head of Financial Services & Business Development, Association of German Transport Companies), Annika Egloff-Schoenen (Head of Digital Media & Events, Nahverkehrs-praxis), Ralf Eichhorn (Head of Innovation and SmarterCity Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe Economic Development Agency), Jochen Georg (Project Manager, Messe Karlsruhe), Prof. Christoph Hupfer (Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, Traffic Planning and Traffic Engineering), Ursula Kloé (Managing Director, JU-KNOW), Andrea MohrBraun (Marketing Director, init SE), Sascha Ott (Managing Director, IPEK - Institut für Produktentwicklung), Dr.- Ing. Matthias Pfriem (Account Executive, PTV Group) and Sieglinde Walz (Managing Director, AEN - Automotive Engineering Network.) The five finalists will get the chance to virtually pitch their ideas and concepts in front of the jury, investors and a broad public on July, 06, 2021 and to recommend themselves for further support. The winning start-up will receive a cash prize of 5,000 euros and a professional coaching program.
